To accommodate the engineering program’s dramatic growth in student enrollment, this project consisted of an expansion to the existing facility to provide additional research and instructional lab space, classrooms, faculty and administration office space, as well as a nearly 3,000 SF auditorium and adjacent atrium/pre-event space.

The Timken Foundation of Canton Atrium towers more than two stories and serves as a community collaboration space for students, as well as a venue for the college’s events and gatherings. This space is also utilized for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Flight Operations program, providing a space to conduct research and fly indoors year-round. The adjacent auditorium offers a high-tech space to support larger classes, student competitions, K-12 outreach events, and community-oriented events.

The building addition also houses Maker Alley, a dynamic area that includes a set of three teaching labs – the Pattern and Fabrication Laboratory, the Maker Space, and the Design and Innovation Laboratory.

Also featured in the new facility is the new cyber.domain that comprises a Cyber Range Laboratory and esports arena as well as a Networking and Server Laboratory. A new Simulation and Cybersecurity Laboratory supports the Cybersecurity Engineering program and research.
