Summary Back to Top

Independence Construction provided CM at Risk services for Heritage Hall, the new home for the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the first new building constructed on the Union Street Green of Ohio University’s Athens Campus.

The three-story, 120,000 SF facility provides space for medical education, clinical assessment and training, student support spaces, administrative space, space for future growth, and a Learning Resource Center (including a medical library).

The building promotes "active design" by encouraging physical activity within the building with the intent of maintaining student health and academic success.

The goal for the new facility is for it to achieve WELL Building Standard certification, which would make it the first medical education facility in the country to do so. The outdoor spaces are part of the educational environment and encourage student and staff connections to the natural environment.
