The second phase of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s expansion plan, which began with the construction of a new distribution center (also completed by Independence Construction), this project consisted of an addition to and renovation of the Food Bank’s original location on South Waterloo Road in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood.

The updated facility will serve around 30,000 people annually and features an innovative Food Pantry with a grocery store-like atmosphere. The space features fresh produce coolers, dry-goods shelves, a freezer aisle, and more.

The new Resource Center houses collaboration spaces and offices for various non-profit partners, providing job readiness, legal services, and more, as well as a MetroHealth Clinic and Shoes and Clothes for Kids. The facility includes a versatile waiting room, large conference rooms, breakout collaboration spaces, healthcare exam rooms, individual work stations, and a child’s play area.

Additionally, the facility includes a state-of-the-art test kitchen that allows patrons to discover easy, healthy, and enjoyable cooking methods and learn recipes from around the community.
