The purpose of this project was to consolidate the functions housed in the outdated Ayer and Crouse Halls into one building that supports 21st century teaching and learning spaces. In order to accomplish this, the 41,000 SF Ayer Hall was demolished, while the 48,000 SF Crouse Hall was renovated and a 17,000 SF addition constructed.

The improved Crouse Hall houses 16 different Geosciences and Physics focused labs (including fume hoods, biosafety cabinets and laminar fume hoods), faculty and administrative offices, and modern general-purpose lecture halls and classrooms.

Also included in the project were upgrades/replacement of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and IT systems, as well as site/grade modifications to provide a pedestrian pathway connecting the different grades of the site.

In addition to IC’s CMR services, our Special Projects Group was responsible for the general trades package.
