Summary Back to Top

This project consisted of the renovation of the existing 100,000 SF Exploratory Hall and a 55,000 SF addition for occupancy by the College of Science (COS).

The four-story addition houses class laboratories for the Biology, Atmospheric Oceanic and Earth Sciences, and Environmental Science and Policy departments and is composed of 20 wet laboratories, lab support/preparation space, a shared testing center, and areas for scientific collections. A greenhouse and mechanical penthouse are located on the flat roof of the addition.

The existing five-story building was renovated and updated to accommodate academic departments, computational and dry laboratories, department offices, university classrooms, lecture halls, and gathering spaces. The front of Exploratory Hall was enhanced with an enlarged entrance plaza that ties in with the main entrance for the new addition.
