Independence Construction worked with Collection Auto Group and played a large part in all aspects of the design including foundations, structural steel and mechanical systems. We contracted and worked directly with the architect and engineers in order to keep the project within the designated project budget.
Site work for this facility began in October of 2013, which included clearing of the entire piece of property and the expansion of an existing retention basin on a separate parcel of land. Building foundations were completed and the structural steel erection was started in December of 2013. Erection of steel, building interior underground utilities and pouring of the interior slabs continued through a very harsh winter, and was completed in February of 2014.
By the end of March 2013, the building was fully enclosed including the installation of a 128' long x 35' high feature glass curtain wall facade. Upon the weather breaking, the exterior EIFS finish was started and the interior of the building continued to proceed. During construction, a major brand redesign was performed by the auto manufacturer, which involved a redesign of structural steel and brand finishes. These modifications were incorporated into the project and building completion kept on schedule. The interior finishes of the building were completed at the end of June 2014, and the facility opened as the first brand redesigned building by this auto manufacturer in the country.
