This new facility, which doubled the size of Cleveland Clinic Laboratories, features state-of-the-art research labs and provides laboratory testing services for Clinic system hospitals, as well as healthcare providers around the world.
The facility was designed to support testing needs in microbiology, special chemistry, immunopathology, and molecular pathology. The building also houses areas for clinical engineering, as well as administrative and sales offices.
Because the facility is responsible for the integrity of testing samples and sensitive laboratory equipment, it is equipped with failsafe mechanical, electrical, and plumbing redundancies to ensure that systems operate 24/7. Design work for over 16 miles of mechanical, medical gas, and water systems was streamlined with BIM mock-ups showing optimal system placement and clash detection before construction began.
